In addition to the shots taking place at the fort (As referenced to in my shot by shot list) I will be conducting a shoot in a darkened room with my lead as well as two other band members, whose identity will remain hidden from the audience with black masks.
In addition to these masks the band members (Bass player and Drummer) will be dressed in all black.
My motivations for masking both the bass player and drummer is so that the focus is on my lead. This notion of star treatment is highly representative of Nine inch nails themselves due to Trent Reznor being the predominant focus in the music videos due to his status as principle singer, and songwriter.
These masks will be found from a supplier on Amazon and delivered in the next week!
Following the notion of star treatment would be Richard Dyer's theory of star focus and how we consume the wider persona of the artist as well as their on screen performance. (This use of bl;ack sack hoods further emphasises the dark drug riddled past of Trent Reznor as well as aleviates any personal features from the ancillary band members).
Other than the black masks, my band members will all be wearing black but casual clothing including that of black winter coats and t-shirts.
Could work well - I'd suggest trying out some footage with some form of face paint/markings too, and I certainly think you should try daylight shots to see if it does undermine your intended mood. THEORY: Richard Dyer/stars
