Genre conventions- Summary
Music video productions for the industrial electronic genre do indeed hold a certain set of codes and conventions. In this post I aim to briefly sum up these conventions in bullet points:
- Low Key Lighting
- Dark or mysterious themes
- Themes of death, love, sexuality and torment are often present
- Locations are dark, grimy or unsanitary
- Male prominence (in performance)
- Gothic styles
VERY useful - you can re-edit for Eval work - though not really that detailed; 5 conventions? Try to get more specific on make-up and costume; locations; performance footage; editing. You use footage on 'shake' that is actually SFX! Scope here too to get into the various theories you've already grappled with in your posts. And don't leave videos without text detail in post!
